Issuance of Certificates
General Information
Under Article 15 of Law No. 183 of November 12, 2011, effective from January 1, 2012, “certifications issued by public administrations concerning personal status, qualifications, and facts are valid and can only be used in relations between private entities. In dealings with public administrations and public service providers, certificates and affidavits must always be replaced by self-declarations as provided for in Articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of December 28, 2000.”
As such, under this law, public administrations and public service providers may neither request nor accept certificates issued by other public offices from private individuals. In these cases, individuals must submit a self-declaration containing the required information.
To this end, the law stipulates that all certificates issued by public administrations to be used in dealings with private parties must bear the following disclaimer, under penalty of nullity:
“This certificate cannot be submitted to public administration bodies or to private managers of public services.”
In compliance with this regulation, the Student Services Office issues stamped certificates valid only for private use, which include the above disclaimer.
How to Print Self-Declarations from Your Student Reserved Area
To assist students (including graduates, those who have withdrawn, or those whose enrollment has lapsed), it is possible to print various types of pre-filled self-declarations by accessing your Reserved Student Area with your credentials and using the "Career/Exam Self-Declarations" feature in the "Student Services" section.
To recover your login credentials for the Reserved Student Area, you can consult the guide published [here] (link not provided in original text).
How to Request a Certificate (IN ITALIAN OR ENGLISH)
To request certificates related to enrollment and/or academic career for Bachelor's, Master's, or Single Courses, you must complete the online form "Certificate Request". At the end of the process, you will upload the PDF file sent to the email address listed in your Reserved Area in Esse3.
Certificates in English can only be requested by students who enrolled after the entry into force of Ministerial Decree 509/99.
For stamped certificates, make sure to pay the required stamp duty and, if applicable, the shipping costs.
Certificates can only be issued if they are intended for entities other than public administrations or public service providers. For these, a self-declaration must be submitted, as per Article 15 of Law 183/2011.
⚠️ Attention: Certificates requested are non-refundable. Before confirming your request, make sure you have selected the correct type.
